Milena Govich, School of Music
Milena Govich is one of Broadway’s hottest rising stars! After graduating from UCO in 1999 with degrees in Vocal Performance and Pre-Medicine, Govich headed to New York City in 2000 with only her suitcase and a lot of hope. She soon got a job in Europe performing with the tour of "The Best of Andrew Lloyd Webber." That summer, she joined the national tour or "Cabaret" playing the role of Texas, one of the Kit Kat Girls.

In December of 2000, Govich got her big break when she joined the Broadway cast of "Cabaret" as Lulu, another Kit Kat Girl. The role required her to be a "quadruple threat" – she had to sing, dance, act and play the violin. She was also cast as the first understudy for the lead role, Sally Bowles. As a part of that production, Govich got the opportunity to perform a lead role in a Broadway musical, as well as the chance to perform alongside the likes of Brooke Shields and Gina Gershon.

She recently was a part of the original cast of the Broadway revival of Rodger’s & Hart’s "The Boys from Syracuse". She was a featured ensemble member, one four "courtesans" to dance the choreography of Tony-award winner Rob Ashford.

After "The Boys from Syracuse" closed, Milena was invited to sing in several pop concerts in China with Fei Xiang, the all-time top-selling recording artist in China.

She is now back in NYC going to acting and coaching classes and auditioning "When you come to New York, you need to come prepared. Don’t expect to learn along the way," explained Milena. "At UCO, I learned to cultivate many different areas at the same time. I studied with many of the music faculty and I was allowed to enroll in dance classes even though I wasn’t a dance major. That helped me tremendously."

Govich is the daughter of Dr. Marilyn Govich, an assistant professor of music at UCO, and the late Dr. Bruce Govich, a professor of vocal music at the University of Oklahoma. Her brother, Mateja Govich, is also pursuing a Broadway career, and performed as a Swing in "Cabaret" alongside his sister. He also attended UCO. Her youngest brother, Nikola Govich, is currently a theatre student at UCO.
